Side hustle 7: Being an extra in a TV show or a movie

If you enjoy movies and TV shows and like to learn more about the process of how they are made, there are opportunities to be an extra for which you can get paid a fee.

Blue Circle Casting:

  • Pros:

    • interesting to experience a filmset and the process of making a TV show/ movie

    • Paid to be an extra

    • Meals on the day are often catered for

  • Cons:

    • a shooting day can be very long or at odd hours

    • transport costs are normally not reimbursed

    • payment tends to be low given the hours you have to be on set (ranging from around 60 Euro/ 63 USD for a ‘normal’ extra)
